Chahkooh Canyon

Qeshm’s Chahkooh Canyon is the Great Canyon of the Middle-East. The surreal shapes of the colossal rocks of the canyon are the result of millennia of erosion by rain and wind. Chahkooh’s notoriety among the natives as the abode of the Devil’s spawn has been advantageous to the region’s tourism. Many adventurous souls come to the canyon to visit the seat of the fiends. Hiking tours people the area especially during the tourist season. Chahkooh is also a significant ecological site and attracts thousands of birdwatchers and nature lovers every year to its pristine sights. In the recent years, Qeshm Island has turned into a major asset for Iran’s flourishing tourism industry. But Qeshm’s Chahkooh Valley isn’t the only natural miracle of Qeshm. We can also tell you about at least two other natural wonders and a historically significant military fort of the 16th century, all the best of Qeshm’s tourist attractions.

If asked to summarize the whole grandeur of Stars Valley in one phrase, the answer would be sparkling silence! Visiting Qeshm’s stupendous Valley of Stars at night is like being in an observatory as grand as the world itself. An observatory in which you don’t even need a telescope. The universe presents itself to you in its entirety. The Valley of Stars is equally marvelous during day-time. The rocks have morphed into peculiar shapes over the centuries, and the view from above is sensational. All the fascination above has made us include a one-day tour of the Valley of Stars in our packages. As for our second package in Qeshm, you should look for a floating jungle!

Mangrove trees are extraordinary plants. They survive the most severe conditions and create forests in the salty waters. Hara in Qeshm is the largest mangrove forest in Iran. We have organized an excellent one-day tour of Hara Forest since tourists love the exciting boat trip through the floating mangrove forest of Qeshm’s stunning Hara Forest.

Although the mesmerizing Fort of Our Lady of the Conception in Hurmuz Island claims the biggest number of annual visitors, there is another Portuguese fort in Qeshm with an equally fascinating story. Qeshm’s Portuguese Castle is a primary historical site in the Persian Gulf. The fort dates back to the 16th century when the Portuguese were at the height of their power. A superpower at the time, the Portuguese empire conquered many regions around the Persian Gulf to further its imperialist cause. Beyond its mighty defensive walls, there are underground canals used by the invading forces to store supplies and artillery.

Once you land in Qeshm, you will have lots of options for sightseeing. As stated above, we present two great options for sightseeing: our one-day Qeshm tours of Stars Valley and Hara Forest. After relishing the full glory of Qeshm, you have the opportunity to visit other fabulous islands such as Kish and Hurmuz. You can also go to Bandar Abbas, the largest industrial port in the south of Iran. Whatever you decide to do, you will need accommodation in Qeshm, and as with everything in this magical land, the choices are superb. You will find the rooms of your liking in the exceptional variety of Qeshm’s hotels and guesthouse.
