Stars Valley

How do you like a tour in Qeshm, the largest island in the Persian Gulf? What is there to see? Well, if we want to talk about all the highlights of Qeshm, we will need to write a book! Authoring travel books isn’t within our field of expertise, but we can give you a brief introduction on the magic of the Qeshm’s tourist attractions. If God wanted to weave a rug made of stars in place of knots and spread it over the heavens what would be the final creation? It might have looked something like the night sky in Qeshm’s Stars Valley. Five kilometers towards the southern coast of Qeshm Island lies one of the wonders of nature. Valley of Stars in Qeshm, Iran greets you with its titanic rocky figures and winding bone-shaped corridors. Although the valley of stars presents gripping sights during the day, you have to wait till the sunset to meet its full glory. There are so many stars in the night sky of the Stars Valley that it seems like the biggest firework of all time! The geographical location of Qeshm island and its constant exposure to direct sunlight and humidity has led to the formation of many extraordinary spectacles. You have already read about the sublimity of the Valley of Stars and now is the time to introduce another mesmerizing natural spot in Qeshm: Chahkooh Canyon. The bizarre sights formed in Qeshm’s Chahkooh Canyon are the result of near two million years of wind and water erosion. Many of these abstract shapes look like postmodern renditions of water wells. Whenever it rains on the island, these structures work as natural water reservoirs for the animals and birds in the island. Walking through the deep valley of the canyon feels like pushing the time’s pause button and treading on an ocean made up of rocks where the wild waves have come to a standstill. It is funny though and rather eerie that the locals believe that the canyon is the abode of demons! Demons and canyons aside, you don’t want to miss Qeshm’s historic sites. Qeshm’s Portuguese Castle is one of many forts built by the Portuguese during their invasion of Iran’s southern islands in the 16th century. The site is walled by stone barracks containing many circular openings. These are the places of great canons that were used to bombard the approaching enemy ships.

The spots introduced above are just a small part of Qeshm Island’s thriving tourism. Both of Qeshm’s tours in our packages are one-day nature tours. One will take you to the Valley of Stars and the other to the spectacular Hara Forest where you will jump on a boat and float along the infinity of mangrove trees. As you have probably noticed by now, visiting all the attractions of Qeshm needs at least a couple of days, and for that you need accommodation. Fortunately, there are wonderful hotels and guesthouses on the island. Eram and Marina are among the best of Qeshm’s hotels. They lie just across the golden shore of the Persian Gulf and include fabulous restaurants and amazing rooms and suites. The island’s lack of luxury accommodation will soon be taken care of by the opening of Soorinet, a five-star hotel with superior facilities and deluxe rooms. How about cheap hotels and guesthouses? No worries in that category either! There are plenty of choices, but probably your best option is the spectacular Assad Bed & Breakfast, the best of Qeshm’s hostels. By staying in this lovely house run by a warm-hearted and hospitable local family, you will treat yourself to a fantastic homestay experience in Qeshm Island.
